Your House At Hogwarts

Your Fate in Fiction Feature

Welcome to Bex @ Kindle Fever and I’s blog feature: Your Fate in Fiction. Every other week we will be posing a question inspired by a book. We invite others to join in the fun – answer the question in the comments or make a blog post of your own and link it in the comments so we can visit!

This post was inspired by the epic Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. If you haven’t read the Harry Potter books yet, GET ON IT ALREADY! There’s no better time! This week our focus is on HP because July is Harry’s birthday month.

So you want to go to Hogwarts, eh? Well in that case you’ve got to take your place under the Sorting Hat and see what it has to say. What will the Sorting Hat’s fate be for you – which House will you find yourself in, whether it be Gryffindor, Hufflepuff,  Ravenclaw or Slytherin.

According to the Sorting Hat:

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil

—————————————————————————————————-

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

If you’ve a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You’ll make your real friends,

Those cunning fold use any means

To achieve their ends

Which of the four Houses of Hogwarts do you think the Sorting Hat would place you? Be honest – which House best suits you based on the traits common for each?

I think the House everyone WANTS to be in is Gryffindor, and who can blame them? It is a cool House and Harry and cohorts are residents, not to mention the Weasley Twins. ;) However, if I’m going to be totally truthful I think the Sorting Hat would most likely place me in Ravenclaw. I”m not saying I’m a super smarty pants, but I’m sort of a nerd – I mean look at me – I’ve got a book blog that I run for fun! (giggle) I’ve also always loved to learn new things, even if it’s not necessarily meant studying as hard as I could.

I do have some Hufflepuff traits as well, I think I’m pretty just and loyal. However, I have a real problem with that “toil” part. *looks innocently around avoiding eye contact* I always picture Hufflepuff people doing hard labor type work for some reason, with big muscles. Yeah, I don’t have big muscles. I will however gladly use my brain to delegate said hard labor chores!  *nods* So there my wits come in to my rescue. :)

 So what about you?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter has no idea how famous he is. That’s because he’s being raised by his miserable aunt and uncle who are terrified Harry will learn that he’s really a wizard, just as his parents were. But everything changes when Harry is summoned to attend an infamous school for wizards, and he begins to discover some clues about his illustrious birthright. From the surprising way he is greeted by a lovable giant, to the unique curriculum and colorful faculty at his unusual school, Harry finds himself drawn deep inside a mystical world he never knew existed and closer to his own noble destiny.

    1. Wow, not sure what happened with that first comment!

Anyway, I always pictured myself as a Ravenclaw as well. I’ve also been a bit of a perfectionist and bookworm. But for whatever reason, Pottermore put me in Hufflepuff, so who knows.

      • Aww yeah, I guess us Ravenclaw’s-at-heart just can’t seem to find our way! I wanted Ravenclaw and I was put into Gryffindor today – honestly NO clue why, I don’t find myself that brave LOL

    2. Caitlin says:

Well at least I know I’m not a Slytherin. But I’m sure the Sorting Hat would have a hard time with me. I would love to be on Gryffindor though. I’ll just have to see on Pottermore I heard they do that.

      • I actually ended up in Gryffindor today! I was wanting/expecting Ravenclaw LOL If you do go and get Sorted (it’s such a fun site, I spent all day on there today LOL) let me know where it puts you – it had some great questions! :D

    3. I haven’t read the books and I’ve only watched parts of some of the movies out of order. I know, I know. Just from those little descriptions, I’d probably go with Hufflepuff. I see it more as unafraid of battle or like not afraid of getting their hands dirty. Some people would probably say I’m Slytherin, but they suck. LOL

      • LOL I love how you’re like “some people would say Slytherin but they suck” hahaha (highfive) I really picture Hufflepuff people with likg big muscles and doing all the hard work.. I’m more the type to use my mind – since I have no muscles (LOL) to delegate said hard work (hard work being like manual labor?) I think I have a pretty extreme view of it, but I just can’t get that image out of my mind! LOL Hufflepuffs are supposed to be really nice though, I also picture them sort of Michelen marshmellow man style.. huggable :D I really think it’s the name Hufflepuff itself that brings me all these associations.. but I think I’ve given you a glimpse into my mind enough for one day – I know it’s a scary place in there ;) LOL
