Waiting on Wednesday: Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead

Waiting on Wednesday

hosted by Breaking the Spine

Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead was a happy discovery I made while surfing Amazon. I am a HUGE fan of Mead’s Vampire Academy series and her spin off Bloodline series, so when I noticed this was a new series, I felt like doing a little dance that probably would’ve embarrassed me and everyone within viewing of said dance. I’m STOKED. I’m also excited because I don’t think this is YA since it’s being published by Dutton Adult, so I’m curious what that’ll result in for the series. :D

Gameboard of the Gods

In a futuristic world nearly destroyed by religious extremists, Justin March lives in exile after failing in his job as an investigator of religious groups and supernatural claims. But Justin is given a second chance when Mae Koskinen comes to bring him back to the Republic of United North America (RUNA). Raised in an aristocratic caste, Mae is now a member of the military’s most elite and terrifying tier, a soldier with enhanced reflexes and skills.

When Justin and Mae are assigned to work together to solve a string of ritualistic murders, they soon realize that their discoveries have exposed them to terrible danger. As their investigation races forward, unknown enemies and powers greater than they can imagine are gathering in the shadows, ready to reclaim the world in which humans are merely game pieces on their board.

Gameboard of the Gods, the first installment of Richelle Mead’s Age of X series, will have all the elements that have made her YA Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series such megasuccesses: sexy, irresistible characters; romantic and mythological intrigue; and relentless action and suspense.

Coming out on June 4, 2013 by Dutton Adult

    1. This new series from her sounds amazing! I love love the cover even though I know some didn’t like it too much… Still, can’t wait!

      • I’m in total love with the cover too! Glad someone else loves it as much as I do! I’m stoked that it’s a series and not a standalone :D

    2. You know I’ve heard incredible things about this author and yet I still haven’t read anything by her. This one looks amazing though, so maybe I’ll start with this one. Thanks for sharing.

      • Oooh, I absolutely LOVE Mead to death :D I’ve read her Vampire Academy series and the spin off, I really want to get into her other books too! I hope when you do read something of hers that you love it as much as I do her! :D

    3. I think this sounds really amazing! I’ve never had much interest in her vampire series (I just don’t really like vampires) but this looks intriguing and I’m excited to discover how adult it is.

      • Yeah, I’m intrigued by how adult it will be too. I’m a huge fan of her VA series, I like that the vamps are a little different and not the “norm” and the way their society works interested me a lot too. Since it’s vampires and half-vamps (dhampirs/guardians) working together, then in Bloodlines the spin-off we learn about another group who works with their society too. I can understand vampire overload though, I have to take breaks :D

    4. Love me some Mead! :) This one is def on my TBR list :)
