Pabkins’ Top Spot Pick

Earth Girl

I have to tell you picking a top spot for my February reads was hard because I read so many great books this month. I settled on EARTH GIRL because I’ve been reading a lot of sci-fi ya the past two years and this one definitely stands out among all of them. If you are into that genre right now I highly recommend it – and hey lookie here we have a giveaway going on for it as well!

Honorable mention to Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge for being a kick ass fairytale retelling – pitched as YA but definitely any adult romance reader would love!

Read my review of Earth Girl!

2788. Only the handicapped live on Earth. Eighteen-year-old Jarra is among the one in a thousand people born with an immune system that cannot survive on other planets. Sent to Earth at birth to save her life, she has been abandoned by her parents. She can’t travel to other worlds, but she can watch their vids, and she knows all the jokes they make. She’s an “ape,” a “throwback,” but this is one ape girl who won’t give in.
Jarra makes up a fake military background for herself and joins a class of norms who are on Earth for a year of practical history studies excavating the dangerous ruins of the old cities. She wants to see their faces when they find out they’ve been fooled into thinking an ape girl was a norm. She isn’t expecting to make friends with the enemy, to risk her life to save norms, or to fall in love.

April’s Top Spot Pick

Dead Beautiful (series)

My Top Spot is actually is a series of 3 books (so a trilogy) that I gobbled up in a couple of days. I also forked out more money for two ebooks than I EVER have because I was THAT desperate to read the following books after realizing my library didn’t have the last two. Dead Beautiful, Life Eternal and Love Reborn. Usually I don’t fall in love with love stories but this had everything, yes the love story was part of it but there was a huge mystery, secret societies/groups (more than one!) and not to mention riddles that lead on a journey to the Netherworld and perhaps a chance at immortality.. seriously, how can one resist?! I couldn’t! I fell head over heels!

You can read my review of Dead Beautiful  – and the other two reviews coming soon!

Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon

On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Renée Winters was still an ordinary girl. She spent her summers at the beach, had the perfect best friend, and had just started dating the cutest guy at school. No one she’d ever known had died. But all that changes when she finds her parents dead in the Redwood Forest, in what appears to be a strange double murder.
