Wicked Wildfire Read-A-Thon

Bex @ Kindle Fever & April @ My Shelf Confessions

Hey everyone – congrats you all survived our third [and one of our most awesome if I do say so myself] WWReadathon! We’ve had some EPIC moments for this WWReadathon and we want to thank you all for joining us! You all rock our socks off!

Before I get to who won my Summer Scorcher Challenge, let us revisit some awesome moments of the Wicked Wildfire Read-a-thon:

Trending on Twitter for our first Twitter Party!

WWReadathon trending

[yes I'm corny enough I had to take a screenshot LOL] I wouldn’t even have realized it because I use Tweetdeck if Christy hadn’t mentioned it! So props to her for bringing it to our attention! And thanks to all of you who made it happen! You helped make WWReadathon history! :)

Our next epic moment was born from a single tweet that again came from Christy! She mentioned wanting to be a hermit because she kept getting disturbed from her reading. So for some reason this made me want to write a song [seriously don't ask, I don't even know why this inspired a song/poem either, my brain works in mysterious ways LOL] and I came up with a song that was edited by Bex, and we put a Bonus Challenge up challenging all of the WWReadathoners to SING it for us! Well we only got ONE taker! Who did a seriously EPIC job!

Coral @ Alchemy of Scrawl – view her video HERE

So thank you all for helping us make WWReadathon history – you all rock so much and it’s been such a blast meeting and chatting with all of you! Stay in touch! :)

We will be sending an email out that will have the full list of winners from the Linky and also dates for the next WWReadathon included, so keep an eye out for that in your inboxes!

*drum roll*

The Winner for the Summer Scorcher Challenge

The winner for my challenge was VERY hard to pick. However, I had to go with the person who tickled my funny bone the most:

Becky @ Book Bite Reviews for her answer:

“Hmm… lets see here. I don’t have a high pain tolerance so these gotta be some great items lol. I would probably douse myself in the highest SPF rated sunblock I could find, then here is where the comedy kicks in. Since I have such a low pain tolerance I would flip over a *CLEAN* metal garbage can crawl under it and shimmy around the (I assume) the parking lot like R2D2 picking up the garbage can just high enough to see an object coming up and then pounce on top of it and obtain the objects lol.

This would be a very long process, but very comical to watch indeed =D”

I agree it would be extremely funny, I couldn’t stop laughing when I came across this entry, and had it in my head  the entire time I was reading other entries – so a very clear winner. I’ll be emailing you shortly Becky, or you can email me, whichever happens first :)

Thanks for joining in our fun! This wouldn’t be such a great event without each and every one of you!

Bonus Challenge: Sing Us A Song!

Bonus Challenge – Sing Us A Song

As many of you know Bex @ Kindle Fever and I are hosting the Wicked Wildfire Read-a-thon.  Well inspired by a conversation  that Christy @ Love of Books and I had on twitter, I came up with a song [well I came up with the lyrics, the song is up to YOU.]

That’s right, we have the lyrics and your challenge is to come up with a tune to sing it to, and to record yourself singing it!

*SPECIAL NOTE – You can participate in this challenge even if you are not part of the Read-a-thon! This is open for everyone! :) *

There are benefits to competing in this challenge:

1. Bex and I will love you forever. Seriously.

2. You’ll become famous to all #WWReaders

3. You’ll become a permanent part of #WWReadathon History – from now until forever!

4. You’ll have the honor of singing our WWRAT THEME SONG!

5. You can WIN EITHER a 1/2 pound of fudge from SendFudge.com [if you live in the lower 48 US States] OR a $15 Amazon GC – to be clear if we get multiple entries there will be ONE winner selected for one of these prizes.

“LIKE A HERMIT”

written by April @ My Shelf Confessions, Edited [and laughed at] by Bex @ Kindle Fever

I may not be a crab

 I just want to relax

Is that too much to ask

Chorus:

i wannabe a hermit, a hermit a hermit,

gimme a shell like a hermit

So much silence

I envy that pretty shell

The world can go to hell

Chorus:

i wannabe a hermit, a hermit a hermit,

gimme a shell like a hermit

Wanna grab like a crab

A book off the shelf

Be all by myself

Like a hermit, a hermit, a hermit

One idea for a tune for the song has been mentioned: Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”  - We’ll leave the tune selection up to you but we look forward to your videos!

This challenge will run from NOW until the end of the WWRAT, Sunday June 24, 11:59 PM EST. So get singing! :)

BE BRAVE :)

WWReadathon Prizes!

WWReadathon Prizes!

I know everyone is excited to see what we have has prizes. Please forgive my horrible pictures – I am not a good photographer and the light in here is poor at best LOL Also, we have an entire box of books that’s at my house right now that I can’t take pictures of.

I have to start out by saying Thank You to Danielle at Harper for providing an entire box of books which include:

7 Copies of LA Mental by Neil McMahon
4 Copies of Lost in America by Colby Buzell
15 Copies of Irma Voth by Miriam Toews

That’s a lot of books!!

Then – here we go with the really bad pictures, (might be scary, good thing is a Halloween themed Read-a-thon! LOL)

AKA

That’s right we have an entire gift set for one lucky winner!

And here we’ve got a bunch of lovely candles that smell awesome and look SO cute!

Then we’ve got a bunch of lovely Halloween themed hand sanitizers, which also smell amazing!

That middle picture is of two bookmarks and a pack of stickers (Halloween cats!) The white bookmark with the butterflies is a signed bookmark for Losing Faith, signed by Denise Jarden the author!

The other is also a bookmark for Angeline Kace’s Descended by Blood with Mirko on the front and Jaren on the back :)

So that’s the prizes! I hope you’re all as stoked as we are, we had fun putting them together, and we can’t thank Harper enough!

If you’ve had fun during the Read-a-thon and would like to pitch in a little for shipping, it would be very helpful and appreciated, especially since we’ve got 26 books to ship plus everything else :D If you’re interested in making a small donating (even a dollar is great!) you can donate through paypal my email is: fireflywishes22@gmail.com OR you can email me for more information.

We’ve had so much fun and Bex and I are definitely going to be rocking a Read-a-thon again, so stay tuned to our blogs for more details, although they will be after Christmas for sure!  If you didn’t catch it, we’re all going to try to stay in touch through the hashtag: #WWReaders
