TGIF: Books I’m Most Thankful for Receiving

TGIF is hosted by GReads!

Giving Thanks:

Which books are you most thankful for receiving from other bloggers, friends, family members, or publishers?

Since I don’t really get that many books from family members (they know I love to read and already have so many books LOL) and usually what I get from friends are book suggestions, so I will go with publisher this time.

This year I can say without a doubt the book I’m most thankful for getting from a publisher (PenguinGroupUSA | Razorbill) is Bloodlines by Richelle Mead. This was one of the very first books I requested, and I totally did not expect to get it, especially it being so popular and highly coveted. I figured it was a total dream to request it and basically considered it akin to entering a lottery – like a million to one chances I’D get it. I had around 300 followers at the time, so I wasn’t very “big” and I was fairly new, having started blogging in February and requesting in June.

When I got that book in the mail – and it came a month later, I had actually forgotten I had requested a book. So when I opened it and I saw it was Bloodlines I went CRAZY – my parents were visiting and they thought I was going nuts I think! I kept hugging the book and making faces like “OMG” “OMG” I could not believe it, it felt like Christmas in July and it really was!

This was a very important milestone for me in my blogging history. It made me realize no matter how far off something seems you need to go for it because you never know! Secondly, it felt good to realize I was becoming a successful blogger, like all the hard work I put into my blog really was worth something. But most of all it gave me the courage to continue to reach out to other publishers and authors – something that I’d been very hesitant to do, afraid of rejection. I still need to work on that more, but I’m getting there.

One thing is for sure, I am thankful for all the publishers, authors, book bloggers, and visitors who give my blog a chance every day whether it’s by sending me an ARC, providing an interview or guest post, or simply visiting and/or commenting; I am very appreciative of the support! You all make book blogging worthwhile and most of all FUN! :)

Edited to Add:

I was in such a rush to get this post up that I totally forgot about the most awesome thing a friend and fellow blogger did for me! Shame on me! Lisa from Lisa’s World of Books was amazingtastic enough to go to a book signing and get Divergent by Veronica Roth and Wings by Aprilynne Pike signed for me! She then mailed them to me and I’m really proud to say these were my second and third books I have ever received signed :D (My first was a complete accident, I bought Superstitions by R.L. Stine and came home to realize it was signed!) So I thank you Lisa again for your awesomeness and I’m sorry for forgetting to mention you right off! It really did mean a lot to me :)

Wow, my memory is seriously deteriorating! I completely forgot to mention a special surprise gift from one of my besties in the blogosphere – Bex @ Kindle Fever – she sent me a Moleskin Passions Reading journal! I was so blown away because I had told her how awesome they were (she was wondering what to use for a giveaway) and then her boyfriend gave HER one, and then SHE sent one to me. I’ve actually been hesitant to write in it – except for a small list in the back, because I want to make it last for as long as possible. But even more than the journal I am thankful for her friendship most of all (and knowing she’ll forgive me for almost forgetting this!) she’s helped me through some rough bits lately, and she’s always there to listen to me ramble, and to be my blogger in crime when it comes to planning fun events like the Wicked Winter Readathon :D

And now I think I have to say if I have forgotten anytihng anyone has given me please forgive me! My memory is going (obviously) and this year seems like it’s gone faster than a whirlwind with so many wonderful and fantastic events among such a great group of people who I’m truly blessed to count myself among.

It’s been awhile since I posted an IMM so I won’t recap ALL the books I’ve gotten since my last one – I will spare you that! :D

I did get one book that SERIOUSLY made my year I think. I was SO shocked when I opened it I think I almost had a heart attack! So thank you so much Razorbill! That book was Bloodlines by Richelle Mead, and after being such a huge fan of Vampire Academy, I had to delve right in – so that review will be coming, just going to post it a little closer to the release date HOWEVER, I want say I’m going to be giving away a copy of Bloodlines, a Amazon preorder, so when the book comes out it will be (hopefully) on the winner’s doorstep that day! So come back and enter to win that August 1st – 7th!

OK now that I’ve prattled on..
