Last week’s Winner was : Jecssica Haight from The Secret DMS Files of Fairday Morrow

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE!!

Many of us developed our love for reading as a child. Starting with short picture story books. So I’m curious…

What was the first NOVEL length book you read as a child? (If you can remember) Write us a short fan fiction scene for the book! Any book is fine really I don’t mind as long as you write something! haha (Even just a few lines is fine it doesn’t have to be long) Preferably creepy cause well I’m just in a creepy mood right now!!

Here is my Example!:

The first novel length book I read as Little Women by Louisa May Alcott I think when I was 7. It was one of those large print hardcover bindings – I absolutely loved it and it still remains one of my favorites to this day.

Jo was sitting in her room scritch, scritch scratching away with her quill to nothing but the light of the fire. She could hear Beth gently breathing in bed. When she paused a moment to think out a particularly difficult scene involving an ice pick, a vampire and a one armed man – she heard a strange scritching sound DEFINITELY not made by the sound of her quill. She turned her head and something dashed across the floor while something else quickly fluttered in the ceilings corner. Jo of course must investigate…

Answer in the comments! :) And don’t forget to enter into the Rafflecopter!

AND NOW FOR THE LOOT!

If you’re an international winner I’ll hook you up with $10 Book choice from BookDepo or $10 Amazon Gift Card.

US Winners will win one of my handmade totoro’s! [shown below]

Challenge & Giveaway: Take Me For My Loot!

Greetings and Salutations oh ye fluffy bunnies!

So I’ve been doing quite a lot of hopping around the blogosphere lately and I’ve realized that here at My Shelf Confessions – we need to add a little bit more ZEST, ZING, and random ZANEY-NESS! – Meaning we need to give away more SH*T!  *As April looks at me for my foul mouth I cackle madly*

I promise to keep the monkeys somewhat in their cage and poop flinging will be somewhat(?) at a minimum.  Bah who am I kidding?  Honest! No fooling? *I dare say she do protest too much*

I thought I would try out a weekly challenge with a small prize of course to wet your appetites!  Nothing too hard, because I want it to be fun and for people to actually WANT to participate.  If there are enough participants each week I’d love to keep it going – course now that all depends on how much love the weekly challenge gets now doesn’t it? So PIMP IT OUT people – you know you want my awesome Loots!

I’m going to try to vary the giveaway items, so usually it’ll be a gift card or book of choice.  But next week I think I’ll give away one of my handmade critters! So be sure to come back EVERY WEDNESDAY !

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE!!

 Your Lyrical Mindset

While you’re listening to your daily Jams – piece together some of the lines for us!  It almost reads like poetry. – and leave it in the comments.

Here is my Example!:

“Heartbreak is half the fun”

“Nobody knows it but you’ve got a secret smile – and you use it only for me”

“Oooo darling don’t you know, the darkness comes and the darkness goes”

“Love don’t come so easily, this doesn’t have to end in tragedy”

“Happiness ain’t never how you think it should be so”

“I never thought that I – had anymore to give”

“Some days last longer than others…”

“Call me insane – that’s because you drive me”

“Broken hearts and torn up letters, girl you just can’t dance forever”

“Don’t Cry Out…10,9,8 and I’m breaking away – I’m all dressed up and I’m ready to play”

“All she wants to do is dance, dance – and make romance”

~taken from Various Artists (I can’t keep track of these things people!)

AND NOW FOR THE LOOT!

WVRAT Challenge: Lines of Love

Hear me, Hear me! …wait, sorry, ahem, Read me, Read me! Yes, Yes, that’s more like it!

All ye lovers of the written word! ~ Welcome to the Wicked Valentine’s Read-a-thon!

The Challenge

My challenge for you today should you choose to bandy words with me: Compile some Lines of Love to woo us, Or perhaps fill us with sadness, make our hearts bleed perhaps? Or nay give us a laugh that only comedic love can.

Challenge was put up a bit late so the adjusted time-frame is the challenge ending at 3PM EST February 12

The challenge requirements, oh evil things that they are:

♥ In the current book you are reading flip to a random page

♥ Roll four dice, add each die’s number together, the total is your line number(aka line=sentence) [convenient website for dice rolling here]

♥ Make the line romantic in some way. (you don’t have to use the whole line, but at least half of it and whatever you add of your own can’t be more than half the total quote)

Leave your actual entry in the comment section to be entered – This is  so we can all easily read it without having to jump around (not just a link to where you left it) – Thanks

My Example

The words in quotes are from the line in the book, the rest I added:

My heart, “It’s so noisy” with thoughts of you, “its impossible to pick out” where my heart beats “individual sounds” meld into yours.

Everyone gets just one entry, so make it good!

It’s going to be a random draw of course but if any one quote particularly pleases my squishy heart…well then just maybe I’ll have something extra special for that particular.

You must be a participant in Wicked Valentine’s Read-a-thon (as in signed up to the linky.)

Prize

A book of the winner’s choice valued up to $10 from either Amazon or the Book Depository

Let the Challenge begin!!
